Nutrient Depletions
Modern Day Medicine has changed our outlook on life completely. Allowing us to live longer, run faster, and ultimately smile wider, our life expectancy continues to increase with the turning of every decade. These life-saving remedies do have some disadvantages. Some medications can contribute to nutrient depletions, and if left untreated or ignored, may have other effects on our bodies.
Antacids
Are you taking antacid medications for acid reflux? If so, you may want to consider supplementation of Vitamin B12 and Magnesium, in addition to Calcium, Iron, and Vitamin D. Talk to your pharmacist today about which supplement you would benefit from!
Blood Pressure
Are you taking medications to control your blood pressure? If so, you may want to consider dietary supplementation of Zinc and Calcium, and potentially CoQ10. Talk to your pharmacist about which supplement may be right for you!
Birth Control
Are you taking oral contraceptives to prevent pregnancy? If so, you might benefit from Folic Acid, Magnesium, and Vitamin B supplementation. These nutrients may become depleted depending on dietary intake and other medication use.
Cholesterol
Are you taking medications to reduce cholesterol? If so, talk to your pharmacist today about the fat soluble vitamins that you are likely low on. Vitamins A, D, E, and K are commonly low if we do not eat the right foods to balance out these depletions.
Corticosteroids
Are you taking corticosteroids like prednisone or methylprednisolone? If so, you would likely benefit from dietary supplementation of Calcium and Magnesium. Talk to your pharmacist today about which supplement may be right for you!
Metformin
Are you taking Metformin? If so, talk to your pharmacist today about which B vitamins that may be depleted in your body. Folic Acid (B9) and Vitamin B12 are commonly found in food but may become depleted while using metformin.
Diuretics
Are you using diuretics or “water pills” for blood pressure or swelling? If so, certain vitamins and electrolytes are likely being depleted in your body and you may want to consider supplementation.

Hormone Replacement Therapy
Are you using Estrogen as a form of managing menopausal symptoms? If so, your body may be low on critical B vitamins like B6, B9 (folic acid), and B12. Additionally, magnesium supplementation may be necessary depending on diet and other medications used.
